For people with physical and developmental disabilities, the sport of ice hockey has been unaccessible to them in the past. In Minnesota we make sure that hockey is for everybody! If you can skate, then this is the opportunity for you to support a person served by Living Well Disability Services to participate in the sport of ice hockey through the Minnesota Sled Hockey Association. participate with a young man on Sundays from November to March, helping to lift and transfer him into his ice hockey sled and then push him on the ice during practices and games. This is a low key and fun event and is a unique form of hockey. But do not be fooled. This is hockey. You would join him along with his staff. If you are a novice skater or accomplished hockey player, this opportunity is for you.
FYI: His home is in Little Canada but the practices are scehduled at several locations, such as Edina, Coon Rapids and Blaine. To see the practice schedule visit mnsledhockey.org.
