Sturgeon City is in need of enthusiastic and capable adults to assist with our fall and spring field trip programming. Our average field trip consists of approximately #120 Onslow County school students and takes place on Sturgeon City property. The field trip duration is 2 hrs, with 30 minutes on either end dedicated to set up and clean up. All field trips are based around the NC Common Core Standards for that grade and are science and environmentally based. This is a part-time seasonal position with hours that vary according to program demand.
You would be responsilble for 1) Memorizing a pre-designed lesson plan 2) Setting up and cleaning up your station and 3) Presenting the lesson to 4 groups of approximately 20 students
Preferred requirements:
* Education: B.S. in a natural science, education or related degree. Equivalent experience may be substituted.
* Knowledge of teaching techniques commonly used in environmental education and at least one year experience working with children in an educational setting.
* Experience and comfort working in an outdoor setting, regardless of weather conditions.
* Honest and reliable

Description
Sturgeon City is a leader among civic and environmental educational organizations, to improve the quality of life through educational enrichment activities, to provide a sustainable restoration model, and to promote economic development through biotechnology. This program will instill appreciation for community and the environment to nurture stewardship. Conseration projects are used as a vehicle to deliver curriculm enrichment in math and science for elementary, middle and high school.
