Internships at the Historical Society of Frederick County provide students with valuable career experiences in a variety of disciplines. A professional museum and/or library staff supervises all internship projects. Every effort is made to match your education, experiences, talents and career goals with projects that will help interns to broaden their knowledge with in the museum/library field.

For students interested in both informal and formal education will assist the museum education staff in granting meaningful learning opportunities for visitors of all ages and backgrounds.

Projects may include:

  • Leading tours for all ages
  • Assist with in-class school programs
  • Adult and family program development
  • Assist with volunteer enrichment programs

Hours are flexible Wednesday through Sunday. Interns are expected to work at least 6 hours a week. Please note that Saturday hours are required. All internships at the Historical Society of Frederick County may be used towards class credit, based on the requirements of your college. All internships are experience/credit bases and are unpaid opportunities.

Resumes for the Fall 2014 semester are due Sept. 12, 2014; for the Spring 2015 semester are due Dec. 5, 2014

Heritage Frederick (The Historical Society of Frederick County, Inc.) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit educational organization dedicated to increasing public understanding and appreciation of the history of Frederick County, Maryland. The society collects and preserves artifacts and documents for study and education, and welcomes the participation of people of all ages in sharing informative and engaging experiences that will encourage them to discover and appreciate their heritage.

Description

The Historical Society of Frederick County operates the Museum of Frederick County History, the Roger Brooke Taney House and the Frederick County Archives and Research Center, and offers engaging educational programs and special events throughout the year.
