ORGANIZATION: National MS Society - Gateway Area Chapter

Are you a highly organized individual interested in gaining experience in event planning? If so, we want to talk to you! The Event Planning and Logistics Assistant volunteer will assist with the organization and/or implementation of the special events and fundraising campaigns that make our Chapter's services and investment in the MS-related medical research possible.

Responsibilities include:

  • Event planning for the Challenge Walk MS, Bike MS and other agency events
  • Research of local companies and their involvemet with non-profit organizations
  • Assist development department in organizing the storage and delivery of items donated for MS Society events.
  • Phone call follow-up on vendors and companies that provide services to our events
  • Assist with compiling and planning of staff event binders and participant event guides
  • Other duties based on agency priorities

Description

The National Multiple Sclerosis Society funds more MS research, offers more services for people with MS, provides more professional education programs and advances more MS advocacy efforts than any other MS organization in the world. Through its home office and nationwide network of chapters, the National MS Society provides assistance to over a million people annually in its continuing mission to end the devastating effects of multiple sclerosis.

Seeking volunteers to the MS cause is the very core of our business. Each year the Society organizes a series of community events that provide many opportunities for the enthusiastic volunteer. The Society offers four key fund-raising activities:

  • Bike MS
  • Walk MS

The Society also engages volunteers to help influence lawmakers at the federal, state and municipal levels toward legislation important to people living with MS. The Society is looking for passionate volunteers with expertise in areas such as:

  • Marketing/Communications
  • Public relations
  • Corporate and donor development
  • Medical, legal, administrative.
