Purpose:
The purpose of this position is to evaluate and process RFL cases so that services may be delivered to clients who have been separated from family members in other countries due to armed conflict, migration, disasters, or other humanitarian emergencies. These services include delivery of Red Cross Messages, responding to tracing inquiries, information and referrals, and community outreach. Demonstrate commitment and understanding of the Fundamental Principals of the Red Cross international network.
Key Responsibilities:
- Willingness to support Red Cross Mission
- Review and evaluation of cases and case updates submitted by chapters and national societies.
- Research and data management by maintaining case files for all RFL cases through the RFL database.
- Provide guidance to chapter case workers as necessary
Qualifications:
- Ability to work independently
- Excellent communication skills
- Completion of Restoring Family Links training
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office products and database, coupled with excellent research skills and internet navigation
Training:
- Orientation to American Red Cross
- Restoring Family Links online training module (required)
- Restoring Family Links classroom course (recommended)
- Case Management System Training
Length of Appointment: Minimum 6 month commitment. May remain active status through active participation.
Time Committment: Minimum 4 hours per week, additional time commitment is welcome.
Development Opportunities:
This position offers the opportunity to develop an array of professional skills including written communication, information and records management. In addition, the team member is able to contribute meaningfully to a program which serves families who have been internationally separated due to crisis, conflict, migration and/or disaster.

Description
The national headquarters of the American Red Cross provides assistance with shaping and leading the organization in our mission and strategic plan. National Headquarters also assists with technical guidance to the many Red Cross units, such as Chapters, Armed Forces Emergency Services Stations and Blood Services regions. These units are responsible for the direct service to the community including disaster response and preparedness, messaging to Armed Forces military and their families, collecting and delivering blood products, teaching health and safety skills and helping reunite families through our international services.
