Uprising

Make a difference! Little Village is one of the youngest neighborhoods in Chicago; almost half of residents are under the age of 25, creating a great need for youth programming. UPrising is a youth-led academic and cultural enrichment program focused on improving graduation rates in Little Village. We are looking for volunteers to assist youth with homework and/or facilitate academic games. Monday through Friday from 2:30PM-5:00PM. By providing support for the developmental and academic needs of our youth, we empower them to transform themselves, their community, and ultimately, the world.

We expect from our Uprising tutors to:

-commit to at least 2 hours a week for at least a 1 school semester

-be on time and ready to tutor

-be comfortable and appropriate interacting with youth

-authorize and undergo a background check through the Department of Children and Family Services

-be creative and engaging, patient and respectful

-be conscious of the needs of the Latino community

-be a critical thinker
