Volunteer Job Description

RECEPTIONIST

1-2 shifts/week

3-6 hours total


MAJOR OBJECTIVE

Serves visitors by greeting, welcoming, and directing them appropriately; notifies company personnel of visitor arrival; maintains security and telecommunications system.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Welcomes visitors by greeting them, in person or on the phone; answering or referring inquiries.

  • Directs visitors by maintaining employee and department directories; giving instructions.

  • Maintains security by following procedures; ensuring visitors sign-in and informing appropriate staff.

  • Maintains telecommunication system by following proper procedure for company phone systems.

  • Maintains safe and clean reception area by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.

  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.

  • Take detailed messages when necessary


ORIENTATION/TRAINING

Will receive online and in-person training. Orientation will occur on the first day of volunteer hours and will last approximately one hour. On-going training and support will be provided as needed.


TIME AND PLACE

The volunteer receptionist will work 1-2 shifts each week. Shifts are M-F, 9am-12pm and 1pm-4pm. Shifts will be assigned based on MOCEANS’ needs and Volunteer’s availability.


COMMITMENT

This position requires a minimum commitment of 3 months and a set schedule.

MOCEANS will provide reference letters for all volunteers who successfully complete a placement.
