America for Animals is a startup nonprofit organization headquartered in California. We are a new type of animal welfare organization - one that empowers advocates to promote compassion and fight cruelty in the communities where they live. We do this by developing state-of-the-art web and mobile applications that make it easy and fun to help animals. Our apps are designed to help people find humane places to eat, meet like-minded advocates, campaign to end inhumane practices, and take other simple actions that make the world kinder for our four-legged friends.

To support this effort, we are looking for a Development Associate. In this role, you would work remotely to ensure that America for Animals has the resources it needs to make a difference for animals. More specifically, you would gain experience...

** Helping to develop and implement AFA's fundraising strategy.

** Researching foundations that are likely to help.

** Researching the corporate partnership programs of social and mobile technology companies.

** Drafting proposals and letters to the foundations and corporate partners that are sympathetic to our cause.

** Helping AFA develop Kickstarter campaigns for its apps.

** Maintaining our DonorPerfect database and establishing a process for communicating with donors.

** Developing supporting materials for grant applications.

** Developing materials for fundraising events (virtual and actual)

Qualifications:

** Fundraising experience preferred (but not required).

** Strong communication and writing skills.

** A great attitude and desire to help animals.

** A bachelor's degree (or progress towards one).

** A committment of 5 hours/week (more is welcome!)
