Are you fascinated by canine pack behavior? Do you want to be part of the behavioral program at the largest no-kill shelter in the Kansas City are? Do you want to help save lives by reducing stress and frustration of shelter dogs by engaging them in daily physical and social enrichment? If your answer is "yes", you should be a KCPP Pit Crew volunteer.

KC Pet Project runs a daily canine social playgroup program at the Kansas City animal shelter. Pit Crew volunteers rotate dogs from the kennel to the play yards, then back again when the dogs have had their recreation. This is a very physical activity and a great fitness opportunity.

Can you make a committment to helping at least one morning or afternoon per week? Playgroups run from 8:00 am to noon every day, and 3:00 to 5:00 pm, Monday through Thursday. Play group volunteers can work partial shifts.

No experience is required. We provide ongoing training and this is a tremendous opportunity to learn about pack behavior and management.

Come to the Playgroup Volunteer Orientation at the main shelter this Thursday, June 11 at 10 am - no registration required. We will discuss the history of the shelter, policies and procedures, and we will observe a playgroup session in action!
