At Bread for the City, we are seeking volunteer groups to support our mission of providing vulnerable residents of Washington, DC with comprehensive services. We have many opportunities for groups of 5-10 to help at both our NW and SE Centers.
In our food program, your group can help us sort and bag donated food to be distributed at one of our food pantries. During the month of November, we also work with many groups who help us pack special food bags that include a turkey and all of the trimmings for a holiday meal.
On Wednesdays Volunteers are needed to help at our City Orchard in Beltsville, MD. Volunteers help with a variety of tasks including harvesting, mulching, weeding and trellising.
On weekends, we need volunteers to help us sort and bag food donations from local farmer's markets for our Gleaning program. Volunteers are also needed on the second Saturday of every month at our "Crop Mobs" at City Orchard.
Volunteers are the engine that keep our organization running. We look forward to working with your group!
