Delaware county Community College's ABLE GED program held their annual graduation in June 2013.

Delaware County Community College’s grant-funded Adult Basic Education and GED program offers volunteer tutors and volunteer classroom assistants the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of others.

Being a volunteer requires your time, sincerity and commitment over a six-month period. Volunteers work one-on-one, three hours per week and meet in a public place. Opportunities exist in multiple locations throughout Delaware and Chester counties.

Mission Statement

The mission of the program is to teach basic through higher level skills and to assist learners in developing the job readiness skills and credentials that will enable them to move into the workforce, training programs and/or higher education. Classes are open to anyone age 18 or older and are at no cost to the participant.

Description

Learners may attend classes on college campuses and community locations. Days and times vary by location, but all classes meet three hours per class, twice a week for 10 weeks. Sessions begin September, January and April. The curriculum centers on reading, writing, and math skills.
