Volunteer with Bpeace to virtually share your web development expertise to work with a SO 9001-certified software factory in the capital of El Salvador, San Salvador. The business is expanding its offerings to web development services and needs to improve the skills and technical knowledge of its programmers.

What you will be doing

  • Work virtually with the business to provide technical advice on front - and back -end web development.
  • Provide as needed training and consulting sessions to improve programmers’ technical knowledge of programming languages such as C# and Visual basic and business intelligence applications: Crystal Reports.

About the business

This SO 9001-certified software factory was started in 2008 by an experienced software business owner with the goal of cultivating talent among young programmers and positioning El Salvador to be a thriving software development country. The company is currently sub-contracted to develop proprietary software for European and U.S. firms and seeks to expand its international clientele.

With projected sales of $750,000 this year, the business is preparing to expand and hire 40 additional employees. The owner believes that his business has significant long-term growth potential and aims to eventually employ 300 people. In order to achieve these growth targets, however, the business must overcome marketing and technical knowledge challenges.

Additionally, as the business expands its services into web development, the owner wants to strengthen the technical knowledge of its programmers in specialized applications, C# and Crystal Reports, as well as others, in order to keep up with clients’ web development needs.

How your work will fit in

  • Bpeace is highly experienced in helping what we call "Fast Runner" businesses develop their potential so that they can create more jobs.
  • The employment they generate sparks a multiplier effect that sustains families, boosts local purchasing power, which in turn lifts other businesses, creates even more employment, and accelerates the community up the path to prosperity and peace.
  • After working for years in Afghanistan and Rwanda, Bpeace selected El Salvador because jobs are critical to reducing the amount of gang violence in the country.
  • We work with each Fast Runner business for three years--helping them stabilize, strengthen, expand and prosper. Typically our pro-bono consulting covers finance, supply-chain, HR, marketing and customer service. Every Fast Runner has a customized Bpeace experience.
  • Your role as a virtual mentor is an important step for the business to grow and create jobs.
