The VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program) volunteer provides a greatly needed service for lower income families, by helping them prepare and file income tax returns. Training is provided in November, December and/or January. Learn a new skill, or get a refresher, while helping us in our mission to end hunger in Monmouth and Ocean Counties. Volunteers are asked to provide a minimum of 30 hours of help from January 31 to April 15th.
There are 9 locations in Monmouth and Ocean counties and volunteers have choices for sites.
Familiarity with tax software is helpful but not required. Volunteers should have a basic understanding and comfort-level with computers and keyboards, and software such as Microsoft Word.
Training takes an estimated 20 hrs in total to receive the required basic & advanced certifications.

Fulfill (formerly The FoodBank of Monmouth and Ocean Counties) is a 501c3 private, nonprofit organization. Fulfill's largest program is Emergency Food Distribution. Fulfill collects donated food and distributes this to people in need through a network of over 300 charitable programs in both counties. Together, we provide more than 12 million meals to people in need.
Hunger in Monmouth and Ocean Counties is no longer a crisis that can be remedied with emergency food alone. That’s why the FoodBank works toward long-term solutions to the chronic problem of food insecurity.
Through programs and services like our Culinary Training Program, outreach programs such as SNAP, affordable healthcare and free tax assistance, along with nutrition education, we are working to build food secure communities.
