We are looking for new members to join the Special Neighbors Marketing and Development Committee. If you have an interest in helping to plan Special Events, we would love to provide you with the opportunity to get to know more about Special Neighbors and find out if we are a good fit for your interests and skills. The Marketing and Development Committee typcially meets no more than once a month. We work together to coordinate two special events a year and develop strategies for promoting Special Neighbors and the supports we provide. Our current meeting time is typically the 1st Tuesday of the month at 5:30 p.m.

Mission Statement
The mission of Special Neighbors is to empower and assist persons with developmental disabilities to live and participate in the community with dignity.
Description
Special Neighbors, Inc. provides residential supports to individuals with developmental disabilities. While we serve 87 people, we view each person as unique, which includes their personality, their interests and the supports they need. Our staff are provided training from the time they are hired and throughout their employment on the importance of building a relationship with the person in order to create an environment where the person feels safe and loved. A quality life begins with quality services from support staff where a safe and comfortable home is provided, but culminates when we take the time to listen to each person, whether their communication is verbal or non-verbal, and really focus on what’s important in their lives. Managers, coordinators and direct support staff use a variety of person centered tools to help develop the plan and communicate each person’s outcomes to all persons involved.
