Has cancer touched your life and you want to to do something, but not sure what? Come help out with the American Cancer Society's signature fundraising event, Relay For Life!
We are in need of volunteers to assist with the Relay For Life of Antioch/Lakes Area on Saturday, July 25th at Caboose Park in Lake Villa.
Sample Volunteer Opportunities:
Set-Up (approximately 8:00am - 12noon)
- Help unpack all of our event materials and organize them by tent.
- Decorate (blow up balloons, hang banners, set out track signs, post team signs at campsites, etc)
Registration (approximately 4:00 - 7:00pm)
- Welcome and check in teams, survivors, and individuals registered for Relay.
- Serve as an "information station" to answer questions.
- Distribute participant t-shirts.
Survivor/Caregiver Tent (4:00-6:00pm)
- Welcome survivors and their caregivers to the reception and event.
- Visit with survivors and their caregivers during the reception.
- Distribute t-shirts, sashes, giveaways and pins.
- Direct survivors and caregivers to the stage and set them up before opening ceremonies.
Mission/Advocacy Tent (approximately 4-6pm)
- Hand out information about the mission of the American Cancer Society.
- Run smaller activities coordinated with the mission of the American Cancer Society and Relay For Life.
- Pass out giveaways.
- Have folks sign petitions for cancer-related laws.
Kid’s Tent (approximately 2:00 - 5:00pm and 6:00-9:00pm)
- Lead games, crafts and activities for kids visiting the tent.
- Create a fun and enjoyable environment.
Silent Auction Tent (approximately 4:00pm - 8:00pm)
- Help set up silent auction donations and organize the tent.
- Supervise and answer questions during silent auction.
- Help process bids and payments.
Entertainment (approximately 4:00pm - 11:30pm)
- Help lead games, scavenger hunts, activities and performers throughout the event.
Luminaria Tent (approximately 4:30 - 9:30pm)
- Sell luminaria bags.
- Decorate luminaria bags.
- Set up bags around the track prior to the ceremony.
- Assist with Luminaria Ceremony if needed.
Clean Up (approximately 11pm - 1am)
- Help clean up the event (break down tables and chairs, pack event materials, general clean up, etc).
