Adult Literacy Support:
Adults who come to The STAR Center for help with reading often did not learn to read because of a learning disability or dyslexia. They are highly motivated and capable of learning to read. A volunteer is needed to encourage and support learning. Task would include: Assisting clients as they work on software, working with flash cards to reinforce new words, reading aloud as a role model, and listening as the client reads.
Monday-Thursdays(9:00-12:00)

Star Center has been providing life-changing services to children and adults with disabilities and special needs throughout West Tennessee for over 25 years. These services can be summarized by our motto: "Enrichment, Education, and Employment". Enrichment is a quality that unites our six diverse services and encompasses all that we do. Education is the belief that children deserve to succeed in academics regardless of their barriers. Employment is about adults sharing their gifts and talents with the community by serving others, rather than being held back by disabilities. Our most powerful service is our commitment to each client for as long as it takes to reach their individual goals, regardless of their ability to pay.
