Communities In Schools has afterschool programs (ACE) where students are in need of homework assistance and tutoring.
Mark Twain Elementary in Alvin, Texas has opportunities for volunteers to allow students to read with them for 20 - 30 minutes Monday thru Thrusday during the hours of 3:30 - 5:00.
Volunteers can committ to whatever time their personal schedule permits. Please contact Lakeeta Hammond, Site Coordinator to determine schedule opportunities.

The philosophy of CIS is based on the idea of keeping students in school by directly addressing all of the problems and concerns that cause the child not to do well in school or consider dropping out. CIS’s comprehensive programs provides students with the opportunity to overcome obstacles thus making it easier for them to stay in school, successfully learn, and prepare for life.
