JF&CS Shoulder to Shoulder is a family-centered, peer-to-peer program offering weekly in-home visits to support military families faced with the challenges that accompany military service. Volunteers are veterans, spouses, parents, and other military-connected community members. They bring their unique perspective as members of the military community who understand the extraordinary pressures of military family life.
The program is looking for dedicated, compassionate volunteers to visit with military families in their home for up to one hour weekly. Candidate must be military-connected (spouse, parent, sibling, etc. of someone who has served, or service member who has previously served) and have the flexibility to attend a bi-monthly, 1.5 hour supervision group.
This position requires approximately 8-10 hours per month and a commitment of one year. Volunteers will be supervised by a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) who has extensive experience working with children and military families.

Description
For almost 150 years, Jewish Family & Children's Service has been the safety net for over 30,000 individuals and families in 80 Greater Boston communities. Since its inception, the focus of JF&CS has been to support our friends and neighbors through difficult life transitions and times of personal crisis, offering programs and services for every stage of life.
JF&CS is especially responsive to the needs of vulnerable members of our community: newborns and their parents, individuals with development disabilities or persistent mental illness, families at risk and the frail elderly. What makes our continuum of programs unique is our steadfast dedication to caring not only for the physical and economic health of individuals and families, but also for their emotional and spiritual well-being.
