Are you a kind individual with a fondness for children and a passion for fitness?

If so, we need your help with our boot camp fitness program at the Rice Child & Family Center!

Our boot camp program is a voluntary fitness program for youth living at the Rice Center who are excited about challenging themselves and getting stronger.

Bootcamp runs from 8am to 9am every Saturday, and we are looking for volunteers to be guest instructors to come once or twice and challenge the kids with your special skills! We ask that volunteers be experienced with teaching the fitness program that they intend to share, be willing to work with challenging kids, and be positive, high energy, and patient. We welcome any type of fitness program you have to offer, from high-energy dance, to calisthenics to martial arts. We aren't looking for instructors to yell at or put excessive pressure on the kids we work with - just someone who will challenge them to do their best. If you come once and love the experience, we'd be glad to have you be a recurring guest on the boot camp circuit!

The Daniel F. and Ada L. Rice Child Family Center (Rice Center) provides residential care and treatment to children and youth ages six to 15 with the greatest needs, including those diagnosed with severe emotional, behavioral and mental health problems. Approximately 80% of the children served at the Rice Center have been removed from their homes as a result of experiencing abuse or neglect. Many of the children have experienced multiple foster care placements prior to coming to the Rice Center, as many foster families are not equipped to manage the severe behaviors, resulting from underlying trauma, the children may present. The primary goal of the Rice Center is to provide children with services designed to diagnose and treat behavioral challenges and to facilitate stable transitions to birth, foster or adoptive families.
