The Asian Law Alliance is a non-profit legal services organization that has been serving the Bay Area since 1977. We specialize in housing, public benefits, immigration, and domestic violence.
We are looking for volunteers to help screen clients during our consultation hours. Volunteers will assist clients who call the office or walk in for consultation under the supervision of a staff attorney. Volunteers will ask basic questions that will help the supervising attorney determine the client's legal issue and possible remedies. A client will then be given simple legal advice, or be scheduled for a follow-up appointment with an ALA attorney, or be referred out if he or she cannot be helped at the office.
ALA intake hours are Monday to Thursday from 9-11:30 AM and 1-3:30 PM and Friday from 9-11:30 AM. Volunteers will be assigned to the time slot that works best for them.
Volunteers will be interviewed by supervising attorney and will also be required to attend a short training. A commitment of at least 2-3 months is required.
If you are interested in volunteering, please send your resume and contact Bea Pangilinan at bpangilinan@asianlawalliance.org
