First Visit Greeters meet and guide patients durring their first visit to the facility - a time when they are woried, confused and need a helpng hand. The program matches each patient with a volunteer who has been affected by cancer either directly or through a family member of friend. Thsi first-hand knowledge helps ensure that first visit greeters truly understand what new patients are feeling, so they can ba a source of great comfort.

Description

We (IU Health Methodist, Riley at IU Health, IU Health University Hospital/ IU Simon Cancer Center and IU Health Saxony) have many opportunities - over 100 - for individuals who wish to contribute their time and talent to provide quality assistance to patients, families, visitors, and staff.

Our on-boarding process, though extensive, can be done smoothly. It consists of a background check, health screen, and a volunteer orientation. IU Health pays all fees pertaining to the on-boarding process. We have this process to protect volunteers, patients, families, visitors, and staff regarding patient confidentiality and environment of safe, quality care.

While fulfilling our volunteer commitment, and any time you volunteer, we pay for your parking and provide you with a meal pass that is good within your hospital of service.
