Volunteers proactively greet visitors in the hospital lobby at eye level and provide a personal escort to their desired location in the hospital. Volunteers may also provided visitors with information including directions on how to find hospital services, patients or staff. Volunteers will also offer wheelchairs / wagons to patients and visitors as needed.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Greet patients, visitors and other customers making them feel welcome.
- Provide escorted service to patients, families, visitors throughout the Hospital.
- Deliver mail, flowers and other items to patient rooms / units.
- Ensure that wagons and wheelchairs are available for patient use.

Description
We (IU Health Methodist, Riley at IU Health, IU Health University Hospital/ IU Simon Cancer Center and IU Health Saxony) have many opportunities - over 100 - for individuals who wish to contribute their time and talent to provide quality assistance to patients, families, visitors, and staff.
Our on-boarding process, though extensive, can be done smoothly. It consists of a background check, health screen, and a volunteer orientation. IU Health pays all fees pertaining to the on-boarding process. We have this process to protect volunteers, patients, families, visitors, and staff regarding patient confidentiality and environment of safe, quality care.
While fulfilling our volunteer commitment, and any time you volunteer, we pay for your parking and provide you with a meal pass that is good within your hospital of service.
