AAFE is offering financial coaching services as part of the nationwide Financial Opportunity Corps, which creates volunteer-led financial coaching programs at existing nonprofit organizations in their local communities across the country.
Volunteer financial coaches will work closely and build relationships with 1-2 clients. Coaches will facilitate clients in their personal financial decision-making processes by asking questions and providing follow-up support. Training on coaching skills and financial knowledge will be provided, no experience required!
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Attend a 1-day training on coaching skills and financial literacy
- Meet with clients one-on-one for about one-two hours each month
- Listen to clients' concerns and facilitate by asking deepening questions
- Work with clients to discern desired outcomes and action steps
- Provide follow-up support to keep client on track
- Work closely with AAFE/Points of Light trainers to document process and progress
- Commit to 1-2 hours a month for six months
DESIRED QUALITIES
- Deep and willing listener
- Patient and supportive
- Tolerant and respectful of individual differences
- Language proficiency in Chinese, Spanish, or Korean is a plus!
- Some knowledge in personal/homeowner finances is a plus!
