Become a volunteer with Good Shepherd Hospice and you will find out that you get back as much as you give. You will have an opportunity to develop a personal relationship with our patients by supporting them in the last stage of their lives. By sharing your time, you will affirm to them and they to you that every day counts and that small acts of kindness can have powerful results.
In order to volunteer, we require an 8-hour training, background check, TB test, and reference check (all provided by GSH hospice). As a volunteer your responsibilites include sharing your time with others, documenting the time you spend and attending on-going education opportunities to develop your base of knowledge and skills even further.
If this sounds like something you would like to be involved in, we would love to talk to you about the opportunities available for volunteering. You will not be required to have any medical skills or perform any tasks outside of your range of knowledge. The best qualifications you can have are a sense of compassion and a sense of understanding that the final days of a person's life are just as important as their first.

Description
COMPASSIONATE ABOUT CARE. passionate about life.
At Good Shepherd Hospice, we believe that health care is more than just a diagnosis and a treatment. It's a daily exercise in making this moment...this today...the very best it can be. We're here to help our patients achieve that goal - physically, mentally, spiritually...and for whatever that means individually.
We believe that in the passing of a person’s life, there are also extraordinary opportunities for compassion, reconciliation, spiritual healing, and renewal.
Our Volunteers play a vital role in our Hospice program. From working in the office, to creating special projects at home, to visiting to provide companionship and ease lonliness, Good Shepherd Hospice Volunteers make special moments happen again and again for the patients and families we serve.
Our History - 22 Years of Comforting and Serving
Good Shepherd Hospice opened its first office in Oklahoma City in 1995. We now have a regional presence serving Oklahoma, Kansas, Missouri and Texas. Along the way, we’ve touched the lives of more than 20,000 patients and shepherded 50, 000+ family members through their time of need. Every member of our team receives comprehensive, ongoing training. We are a member of the National Hospice and Palliative Care Association, Medicare Certified and State Licensed.
