We are in great need of male volunteers to serve this population and be positive adult role models to the boys in our program. Please consider giving just a few hours of your time each week to make a lifelong difference to a child. Court Appointed Special Advocates are volunteers who are appointed by the Family Court to advocate in the best interest of young adults and youth in foster care. CASA volunteers are trained to be a voice for children who are in the foster care system due to abuse or neglect. Unfortunately boys make up a larger percentage of the children in care and stay longer than girls. Passaic County CASA supervises and provides support for volunteers as we work towards the common goal of improving the lives of foster children. Currently, over 500 children are waiting for a volunteer to speak up for them and to ensure that they don't fall between the cracks of the system. Visit www.passaiccountycasa.org for more information

Mission Statement
Court Appointed Special Advocates of Passaic and Union Counties is an independent, non-profit organization that champions the best interests of children involved in the child welfare system. CASA volunteers serve as a child's advocate in court and are committed to ensuring that needed services and assistance are made available to children in need.
Description
Every year more than half a million abused and neglected children are in need of safe, permanent, nurturing homes.
That's where CASA steps in. CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) was created in 1977 to make sure the abuse and neglect these children originally suffered at home doesn't continue as abuse and neglect at the hands of the system. As trained advocates, CASA volunteers are appointed by judges to be a voice for these children in court. The result is that a child has an individual advocate to speak for them in court.
It is the CASA vision to provide a volunteer for each and every abused and neglected child who needs one.
