Creepy Critter Encounters is a Deer Flat National Wildlife Refuge annual Fall event. Our visitor center will be as full as a trick-or-treat bag with critters, a storyteller, and crafts. While the trail around the center becomes a meet-the-refuge-creatures hike.
Volunteers at Creepy Critter Encounters have the opportunity to help with set-up and clean-up, be a greeter at the welcome table, be a craft table attendant, host an activity station, photograph the event or wear the mascot costume of the blue goose.
This is a great opportunity to celebrate a fun holiday with a wildlife twist and give back to the community. And volunteers will receive an orientation to their station and do NOT have to be experts. Costumes are welcome!

Mission Statement
The mission of the National Wildlife Refuge System is to work with others, to conserve, protect and enhance fish, wildlife, and plants and their habitats for the continuing benefit of the American people.
Description
Deer Flat National Wildlife Refuge, founded by President Theodore Roosevelt on February 25, 1909, is one of the oldest refuges in the National Wildlife Refuge System (NWRS).
Managed by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, the System preserves a network of lands and waters set aside for the conservation and management of the nation's fish, wildlife, and plant resources for the benefit of present and future generations.
Deer Flat National Wildlife Refuge needs your talents, enthusiasm, and time! If you appreciate and are concerned about the refuge and its wildlife, then consider becoming a refuge volunteer.
