Heartland Alliance believes that all of us deserve the opportunity to improve our lives. Each year, we help ensure this opportunity for more than one million people around the world who are homeless, living in poverty, or seeking safety. Our policy efforts strengthen communities; our comprehensive services empower those we serve to rebuild and transform their lives.
Heartland's Refugee & Health Promotions program is desperately seeking individuals who can provide onside childcare for children ages 1-6 while mothers attend support groups. Volunteer work includes playing games, reading, snack preparation, and arts and craft activities with children.
Childcare volunteers are expected to:
- Attend at least eight (8) support group sessions between October 2014 and May 2015. Sessions will take place weekly either on Thursday or Friday from 10am-12pm in or near the Rogers Park neighborhood.
- Keep children engaged while mothers are participating in sessions.
- Create a safe, fun, and engaging atmosphere for children.
Volunteers are required to complete a Volunteer Agreement of Service form and must submit to a background check.
Responsibilities/Duties:
- Volunteers are present and on time for scheduled shifts. Volunteers are required to notify staff when they will be absent from or late to a shift.
- Volunteers play with and care for children.
