Mission Statement

East African Community Services (EACS) is dedicated to improving the well-being and quality of life for East African youth and their families in Seattle. We provide tools to adjust to life in the United States, preserve diverse cultural heritages, and participate in broad and integrated community life.

Description

East African Community Services (EACS) was established in 2001 to provide culturally specific advocacy, information, referral and direct social services to the more than 20,000 East African immigrants and refugees living in South Seattle.

EACS is an inclusive organization that is dedicated to improving the well-being and quality of life of refugees and their families by providing them the tools to successfully integrate into the American way of life while simultaneously preserving their diverse cultural heritage.

EACS programs include refugee resettlement support; life skills, English as a second language, and job skills training classes; family and youth outreach programs; health care access and child protection education; parent involvement in children's education support; crime prevention programs; seniors programs; and assessment and case management services.

Our vision is to develop and strengthen the capacity of the Somalis and other East African Refugees in the King County at the individual, family and community levels.
