Greater Washington Micro Project Team Member & Project Leader Application
Compass offers business professionals a high-impact opportunity to help address area nonprofits’ most pressing strategic challenges. Apply your business acumen and increase your community impact by supporting some of Greater Washington’s most dynamic and deserving nonprofits with strategic consulting services.
We have an exciting group of 32 clients for the 2016 Micro Project year. Read more about the types of projects Compass is offering this year: http://compassprobono.org/projects/2016-greater-washington-micro-project-roster/
On average, team members are expected to commit 1-3 hours per week to their Compass project. Project Leaders typically spend 3-5 hours per week on project work. If your current job/life requires extensive travel, it may be difficult for you to stay in touch with your Compass team, attend meetings, or complete your project work. Please consider your available time and your other commitments before applying for a Compass team. Projects run from late January through May.
DEADLINE
Volunteer applications are now open and will close at 5pm on January 11. Please note that preference goes to applicants who have an MBA. However, we do accept a significant number of non-MBAs on each team, especially those with consulting, nonprofit, board, or prior Compass experience. If you have questions about volunteering with Compass, please email Justine Wu at jwu@compassdc.org.

About Compass

Mission Statement
Compass’ mission is to inspire the active engagement of business professionals with
their local nonprofits to transform communities.
Description
Compass provides pro bono consulting services to nonprofits whose work benefits the Greater Washington community. Compass recruits, trains and supports teams of volunteers, mainly MBAs from top business schools, who provide the consulting services.
Through a careful screening and interviewing process, Compass chooses nonprofit clients. Compass selected 30 clients for the 2012-2013 project year. Compass then selects graduates from top business schools or senior business professionals who have Compass experience as Project Leaders, and then staffs each project team with a mix of volunteers who bring complementary skills and experience. Compass carefully matches Project Leaders, volunteers and clients to create the most effective working relationships. Projects last approximately seven months - from early fall until late spring.
