You will bring a smile to disabled individuals by encouraging and motivating them to have fun. Our riders learn basic horsemanship skills and improve physically with better muscle tone, balance and posture.
Therapeutic riding with the aid of our horses and our wonderful volunteers challenges and motivates our riders to improve their emotional well being, building self confidence and self-esteem--the I Can Do It attitude.
YOU can be a horse leader, side walker or groom and tack our wonderful equine therapists. Classes are held on Tuesday, Thursday evenings and all day Saturdays.
Due to the current pandemic, all volunteer opportunities have been canceled. We will update you when we are able to reopen. Thank you.

Mission Statement
The Frederick County 4H Therapeutic Riding Program began in April 1984 as a special project under the Frederick County 4H Horse and Pony Club. The program is incorporated in the State of Maryland as a non-profit organization.
Description
We provide a seven week session of riding instruction each spring and fall at no charge to students. The program always has a waiting list of applicants, but our enrollment is limited by money, the availability of volunteers and the time available to hold classes when students can attend. Since 1990 we have been sending athletes to the Maryland State Summer Olympic Games held in Towson, Maryland to compete in the Equestrian Events.
