Every Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday evening StandUp For Kids opens our drop-in center for the homeless teens that we serve. We provide a meal, access to clothing and other necessities, and a listening ear. We are looking for volunteers to commitment to at least two evenings per month to work with our youth, show kindness and care, and help them see there is a way out of the cycle of homelessness.
We operate our drop-in center from 6:30pm--9pm on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays here in Lakeview, just off of the Paulina stop of the Brown Line. Come join our dedicated volunteers to help the over 100 homeless teens we assist each and every week. Bring a friend. Make a friend, Be a part of the solution.

Mission Statement
Ending the cycle of youth homelessness. We do this in cities across America, one youth at a time.
Description
In 2009, a handful of volunteers were moved to start the Chicago chapter of StandUp for Kids by making sandwiches in a Lakeview church basement. Along with providing street outreach services, we have a safe drop-in center (2012) for our Chicago’s homeless youth to relax and socialize, as well as a hot meal and access to our closet to obtain much needed clothing and personal items. Further, the youth have access to our volunteers who are there to help to the best of their ability with homework, and/or interview training, mentoring, counseling and emotional support.
We seek volunteers for our drop in center evenings (Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday) as well as volunteer groups who would like to supply meals to our youth.
