Be part of National Public Lands Day, Saturday September 27, 9 AM - noon, at Coldwater Spring.
Volunteers will plant, water, and mulch trees and shrubs at Coldwater Spring, the newest park site within the Mississippi National River and Recreation Area. The National Park Service is restoring the land surrounding Coldwater to create oak savanna, prairie, and wetland habitats. Coldwater Spring sits between Minnehaha Falls Regional Park and Historic Fort Snelling.
This National Public Lands Day event is sponsored by REI, the National Park Service, and its nonprofit partner, the Mississippi River Fund. Started in 1994, National Public Lands Day is the nation’s largest hands-on volunteer effort to improve the public lands Americans enjoy. National Public Lands Day keeps the promise of the Civilian Conservation Corps, the "tree army" that worked from 1933-42 to preserve and protect America's natural heritage. Bring friends and family! Volunteers must be age 8 or older.
Registered volunteers get a free REI volunteer T-shirt and light breakfast. This is a rain or shine event.
REGISTRATION REQUIRED. Register at missriverfund.org
