Newhouse is proud to be the charity partner for this year's Monster Dash 5K race! This costumed fun run winds through spooky City Market and gives participants a chance to win age group and costume awards. As you can imagine it takes a lot of people to help things run smoothly!
Available positions:
-Course Monitor (must transport yourself to course station) 6-8pm
-Aid Station (must transport yourself to course station) 6-8pm
-Finish Line (medals, chip clipper, water, food) 6:30-8:30pm
-Tent or treat volunteers (costumes required!) 5:30-7:30pm

The mission of NEWHOUSE is to break the cycle of domestic violence by providing the tools that allow women to make positive choices and lead self-sufficient lives.
Description
Newhouse provides access, admittance and residence in temporary shelter for victims of domestic violence and their children 24-hours a day, every day of the year. Newhouse takes a comprehensive approach in meeting the needs of the women and children who turn to Newhouse for emergency shelter and for relief from the crushing distress of domestic violence.
Newhouse has served Kansas City's urban core for 42 years. In 2012, Newhouse provided 24,769 bednights to 792 residents (511 women and 281 children). Newhouse answered 9,248 emergency hotline calls and served 661 victims in the Municipal Domestic Violence Court system.
