Could you step in and speak up for a NEGLECTED or ABUSED child in court? Could you spare 8 to 10 hours a month to help build a child's future? It's very flexible and anyone with a big heart can do it! If so, you could become a Guardian Ad Litem. Today, Brevard County has more than 1000 children who need someone to give them a voice and see that their best interests are served. Because the number of cases has grown tremendously in recent years, more volunteers are urgently needed.

About Guardian Ad Litem Program
Location:
2825 Judge Fran Jamieson Way, Melbourne, FL 32940, US
Mission Statement
The Guardian Ad Litem is the "voice of the child". The term Guardian Ad Litem means "guardian for the case". Therefore, a GAL is not a foster parent, legal guardian, or expected to provide a home for the child. A Guardian Ad Litem is paired with an attorney and Advocate Coordinator to make recommendations to the judge regarding a safe place or special services. You can champion an abused or neglected child and prevent them from suffering future harm.
Description
The volunteer Guardian Ad Litem is a representative for the child before the court, social service agencies and the community. He/she also protects the child during the family crisis, court proceedings, and follows the child’s progress after the Court disposes of the case.
