Refugee Family Services' Afterschool Program strives to narrow the achievement gap within the refugee community! Our young clients come from unique situations--many of whom were born in refugee camps without education systems, have fallen witness to acts of extreme violence in their home country, and are suffering from cultural identity now that they're new home is in the U.S.
Student volunteers are needed to serve as classroom assistants in our Afterschool Program. Assistants are an integral component in our program. As a Classroom Assistant, you will:
-serve in a classroom setting (15 kids per class)
-help provide homework tutoring, basic computer lessons, snack time/play time assistance, and lesson facilitation to refugee K-5th graders!
-have fun with our young clients and encourage cultural identity and self-esteem
This opportunity is great for people who love working with kids, education students, ESL students, and/or the international community.
