The Retired and Senior Volunteer Program is currently recruiting volunteers to become Court Assistance for Elders Companions.
Court Assistance For Elders (CAFÉ) Companion (Titusville and Viera): The Brevard County State Attorney’s Office is looking for volunteers who have some interest in the judicial system and want to help elder victims seek justice for the crimes committed against them. Volunteers will be specially trained in victim advocacy and the court system. As a CAFÉ companion, you will alleviate the victim’s fear and anxiety by accompanying them to their court-related appointments. Court-related appointments may vary throughout the month and open availability is preferred. Appointments will be mostly located in Viera and few possibly in Titusville. The first training week is scheduled for September 9-13, 2013 in Viera.

Make a Difference in Your Community!
The Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) provides opportunities for people 55 and over to make a difference in their community through volunteer service. RSVP volunteers contribute anywhere from a few to over forty hours a week, serving through sharing centers, meals on wheels, transportation, United Way, and other nonprofit and public organizations to help meet critical community needs. RSVP offers maximum flexibility and choice to its volunteers. RSVP matches the personal interests and skills of older Americans with opportunities to help solve community problems and offers supplemental insurance while on duty, and on-the-job training from the agency or organization where volunteers are placed.
