Kinship is a mentoring program where we match individual adults, couples and families to youth ages 5-15 from single parent homes. So many teens are waiting hopelessly for someone to select them before they age out of the program. Often people think teens don't want to be around adults but we are here to say we have many who are asking voluntarily for an adult mentor to be their friend. Can you spend an hour or two with one of our waiting teens and help make a difference in their lives. Call Penny at 763-862-6755.

Mission Statement

Kinship Greater Twin Cities believes that every young person needs a role model. Kinship youth are matched with community mentors who foster supportive, holistic, and authentic relationships. Mentors and mentees are carefully matched based on common interests, aspirations and, when desired, faith connections. Kinship believes that the mentoring relationship is a mutually beneficial opportunity for all parties to grow. Kinship commits to providing resources and opportunities for youth and their families throughout the greater Twin Cities.

Description

Kinship actively invites individuals, couples and families into mentoring relationships with boys and girls ages 5-15. Focused on building lasting friendships through fun activities and quality time, the mentoring program creates sustained, supportive connections capable of giving youth the life skills they need to succeed. Kinship's mentoring model requires mentors to spend 2-4 hours per week with their mentee and are encouraged to participate in community events and activities centered around the youth's interests. Discovering new experiences together is also encouraged, opening the door for academic, social, and emotional growth. Life skills and work preparedness are also essential to our mentoring model, as well as optimism for the future and healthy living.
