ORGANIZATION: Partnership for the Advancement and Immersion of Refugees (PAIR)

  • 14 people are interested

PAIR operates its Global Explorers program in neighborhoods with the largest resettlement, serving middle and high school refugee students who have recently arrived in the United States. PAIR volunteer mentors engage students by providing supportive relationships, English language practice, and recreational or creative activities that allow students to explore their new community. Sessions take place each week on Saturdays from 1-3 PM. Sessions allow for group activities, individual mentoring, and field trips throughout Houston. Global Explorers assists participants in developing positive attitudes towards their new community, developing positive relationships with peers and adults, and building a desire to continue their education through high school and beyond.

Volunteering with the Explorers program requires a year-long commitment of 10 Saturdays both fall and spring semesters.

Please apply through our website (http://www.pairhouston.org/vol-app/) ASAP as spots run out quickly!
