American Red Cross

On-call Client Assistance Card Loader: The Client Assistance Card (CAC) is a stored value debit (prepaid) card used to provide financial assistance that Red Cross disaster clients can use at nearly any retail location that accepts MasterCard.

On-call CAC Loader volunteers would be on-call to load funds onto client assistance cards. They will recieve calls from volunteer caseworkers who have met with families affected by disaster. The caseworker will provide the information needed for to the card loader to add funds to the card through a secure web-based application (Cardwiz).

This is a great opportunity for volunteers that don’t want to or are not able to go out to the scene but can still feel great about being part of the process to help people in need during a disaster.

We would have one number to give to our DAT responders and forward this phone to the on-call CAC Loaders cell phone.

About South Central Minnesota Chapter (American Red Cross)

Location:

Mission Statement

The American Red Cross, a humanitarian organization led by volunteers and guided by its congressional charter and the Fundimental Principles of the International Red Cross Movement, will provide relief to the victims of disasters and help people prevent, prepare for and respond to emergencies.

Description

We depend on volunteers, who constitute 97 percent of our total work force, to carry on our humanitarian work:

Every year, the Red Cross is there for hurricane, earthquake, and other disaster victims--including 150 families forced from their homes by fire every day.

175,000 volunteers worked to prevent, prepare for and respond to nearly 72,000 disaster incidents last year.

Over 15 million Americans turn to us to learn first aid, CPR, swimming, and other health and safety skills. Last year, more than 230,000 people volunteered to teach those courses.

Half the nation's blood supply--six million pints annually--is collected by more than 190,000 Red Cross volunteers.

Among our emergency services for the men and women of the armed forces is the delivery of urgent family messages--one every 22 seconds.

Over 24,000 volunteers serve as chairs, members of boards of directors, or on advisory boards for local Red Cross units - chapters, Blood Services regions, and military stations.

As part of the International Red Cross Movement, we work to ease human suffering on a global scale.
