AFLAR needs volunteers who love to work with animals. Particularly dogs. We rescue dogs from our local shelter and care for them in foster homes and boarding until we can get them loving forever homes.
We need help with walking and caring for our dogs at the boarding facility and doing adoption events at various locations in Ventura County. We need help transporting dogs to the vet and different appointments.
Our volunteers can help on a flexible schedule when they are available.
We need help networking our dogs for adoption and educating the community about responsible pet ownership, spay/neuter and ending back yard breeding.
We work with many pit bulls and advocate for the breed.

Mission Statement
AFLAR is a non profit, volunteer based, Ventura County Rescue group working to save animals from euthanasia at the animal shelter. We are an all breed rescue but focus on Pit Bulls and Chihuahuas because they are the most at risk breeds. We advocate for spay/neuter, stopping back yard breeding and no kill sheltering. We work to restore the reputation of pit bull type dogs to the family dog they have always been.

We rescue dogs from the shelter and care for them while we find them forever homes or find other 501 rescues to take them.
