ORGANIZATION: Arizona Caregiver Coalition

  • 4 people are interested

In a trail-blazing program, the Arizona Caregiver Coalition (ACC) is looking to volunteers to provide information, community resources to help callers navigate the complex system of caregiving. The Caregiver Resource Line/ AZ. Respite Vouchers and AZ. Respite Registry (AZ. R&R) are our newest programs that we offer when callers contact us. We provide all information to our callers via the telephone or computer.

Caregiver Advocates Volunteers (CAV) are essential to help us find solutions for the rapidly growing number of families who find themselves in caregiver situations and are in need to help navigate the community support services in their area. Often, families are thrust into becoming caregivers without warning, perhaps if a spouse has a stroke or suffer an accident, caring for someone with a chronic disease or disability (across the lifespan). As a result, family caregiver often become stressed and overwhelmed. They may not know what to do first and the best places to call for help.

That's where the ACC comes in a "No Wrong Door" approach is was created. We are open Monday - Friday 9am - 5pm. Many shifts to select from, only 4 - 6 hours per week is volunteer commitment and we are requiring a 8 5 - 8 month commitment. We are located off 19 th Avenue and Jefferson. Close to Hyw 17 and the I-10. Contact Elizabeth Harris with the Arizona Caregiver Coalition (ACC) to learn more how you can help family caregivers in Arizona. Call (602) 435-823 to learn more.

Mission Statement

The Arizona Caregiver Coalition works to improve the quality of life for family caregivers across Arizona through collaborative partnerships, advocacy, resources, and respite support.

Description

The Arizona Caregiver Coalition is a community-based, 501(c)3 tax exempt organization. It was founded in 2014 to support and advocate for family caregivers in Arizona. We operate the statewide Caregiver Resource Line (888-737-7494) to answer questions and provide information. We also offer funding for respite, so that family caregivers can get a break. We partner with the Arizona Department of Economic Security, Area Agencies on Aging, and other community based organizations.

The Arizona Caregiver Coalition is an integral organization within the Arizona caregiver community. Over the course of 9 months (September 2021 through May 2022), The Arizona Caregiver Coalition will collaborate with AmeriCorps and local organizations to improve the quality of life for family caregivers throughout Arizona, and help develop a community where family caregivers thrive.

To ensure that members meet the necessary living expenses incurred while participating in the Arizona Caregiver Coalition AmeriCorps program, members are provided a modest living stipend. Members also receive ongoing professional development throughout the year. Fellows will be eligible for an AmeriCorps Segal Education Award upon successful completion of the service term in good standing with the service site (completing 450 hours of service for Quarter-time members). Most importantly, members gain valuable professional and personal experience and acquire skills in civic-engagement, teamwork and leadership during a year of service.
