Want to make a difference in the community? This is your chance! Opening Doors helps refugees resettle into new homes in our community, gain job-hunting skills and employment, improve their English and live healthy lives! Interested in getting involved? As a refugee mentor, you will assist with the following:

  • Opening a bank account
  • Helping them access public transportation
  • Obtaining a library card
  • Applying for a California ID/ Driver’s License

**We currently need a Spanish-speaking volunteer to mentor refugees from Columbia. If you are bilingual, please consider applying before the end of May. Edit made: May 11, 2015.

We do this by providing safe places, skills development, business loans, and connections to community resources, assisting our clients to build financial and personal assets while maintaining their cultural identity and individual goals.

Internships with Opening Doors
A formal work arrangement that is part of an educational or training course where you must gain experience in a particular field.

  • The length of the arrangement will be based on your school’s requirements and our organizational needs.
  • You will receive skills development opportunities that help you transition from study to work.
  • While you are expected to follow professional standards, the work performed is measured by periodic evaluation as required by your affiliated school.

Volunteer positions are less formal and not linked to an educational institution, but still offer opportunities for professional development.
