Mission Statement

PPM is a PREVENTION MINISTRY

Preventing Youth from GOING to Prison

Preventing Inmates from RETURNING to Prison

Through a Personal and Growing Relationship with Jesus Christ and His Gospel.

Description

History

Prison and Prevention Ministries is a local ministry founded in 1979 under the direction of Roger Ingvalson. In 2000 the name was changed from Chattanooga Prison Ministries to reflect the ministry in the Prevention Program and our outreach toNorth Georgia.

PRISON MINISTRY

1. Inmate Ministry

PPM volunteers and staff serve in 9 local prisons and jails bringing the Good News to men and women through Worship Services, Bible Studies, Discipleship Seminars and Revivals.

2. Ex-Offenders and Families

PPM provides food and emergency resources and meets the needs of children through the Christmas Angel Program for children who suffer because mom or dad is in prison. They attend an age-appropriate party, receive gifts and hear that Jesus is the reason for the season.

YOUTH PREVENTION MINISTRY

God is opening doors in elementary, middle and high schools, giving PPM the opportunity to work with at-risk youth. Using the tools of Presentations and Prison Tours, youth see the wrong choices they are making and learn how to make positive choices in both their personal and spiritual lives.

Presentations: Classrooms and assemblies hear from ex-offenders about their poor choices and the consequences of ending up in prison. However, students learn that prison wasn’t what enabled them to change--it was a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.

Prison Tours: Going on a tour of a maximum-security prison lets youth see and hear first hand what prison life is like. During group and individual follow-up PPM counselors can focus on what is going on in the student’s life, and present Christ as the hope and healer of their situation.

Discipleship: To make lasting change youth need mentors and role models to guide them into making better choices. Helping them get connected to other organizations within the schools and local churches is vital to their spiritual growth.
