As an Adoption Counselor for the House Rabbit Society, you will help match families with the right rabbit, educate on rabbit care, assist with the adoption paperwork, and assist with rabbit-to-rabbit introductions. Finding forever homes for our resident rabbits is one of our core functions as a nonprofit organization! The more rabbits we are able to place in loving homes, the more we are able to save from euthanasia at shelters.
This position requires experience handling and caring for rabbits, as well as an ability to speak with the public and represent our organization. You can help us with adoptions at our facility in Richmond, CA as well as for offsite adoption events. Our volunteer hours are every day from 12pm to 5pm (we're closed Mondays). Offsite events may occur outside of these hours.
All volunteers are expected to help where needed, which may include helping keep the rabbit center clean, bagging hay, grooming, office work, etc. We do ask for 2 hour weekly commitment for a minimum of 4 months. Volunteers must be 16 or older.
To become a volunteer, you must first fill out our online application, located on our website here: http://rabbitcenter.org/volunteering/
Once we receive your application we will contact you with tour and training dates and you can get started!

About House Rabbit Society
Location:

Mission Statement
House Rabbit Society believes that ALL rabbits are valuable as individuals, regardless of breed, temperament, state of health, or relationship to humans. The welfare of all rabbits is our primary consideration. Our mission has two parts: Through our intake program, we rescue rabbits who are out of time at local animal shelters and find permanent adoptive homes for them; through education, we seek to reduce the number of unwanted rabbits -- and to improve bunnies' lives -- by helping people better understand these often misunderstood companion animals.
Description
House Rabbit Society is a nonprofit organization devoted to the rescue of domestic rabbits, the third most popular companion mammal as well as the third most euthanized mammal in America. We have several volunteer opportunities for individuals with a passion for the humane treatment of animals and an eagerness to learn about rabbits and the nonprofit sector.
