ORGANIZATION: Family & Children's Agency

  • 9 people are interested

Family & Children’s Agency is seeking a volunteer to research local activities such as free concerts, free admission to local museums/venues, etc. for families in our Family Support programs. In general, these programs provide support, guidance, and classes for both mothers and fathers to develop effective parenting skills and to build a strong foundation for their families. Families in these programs may feel isolated and will benefit from free or low cost social/play activities in the area. The volunteer would create a schedule of activities and work with staff to communicate information to families. Activities located in Norwalk or near bus routes are preferred as some clients do not have transportation.

Volunteers are not expected to attend activities and can work from home or come to Family & Children’s office located in Norwalk. If you are interested in applying, please contact Mayx Holmes, Manager of Volunteer Services, at 203-523-5715.

Requirements

To become a volunteer with Family & Children’s Agency, volunteers must complete an application and necessary background checks, including criminal, state, and Department of Children and Families checks. Volunteers must also complete an agency orientation with Volunteer Services and a program orientation with their supervisor.

Skills Needed:

  • Comfortable researching topics online or via the phone
  • Dependability/consistency
  • Cultural sensitivity/awareness
