Reading Partners connects passionate volunteers with struggling readers to help students strengthen their literacy skills, build confidence, and discover a passion for reading. You can be a mentor, a leader, and an educator with no prior experience in the classroom.
We are currently accepting volunteers for the 2013-2014 school year--starting in September 2013. Our program team will contact you in September with more information about scheduling an orientation and getting started.
Be someone's hero.
Over the past decade, volunteers like you have helped more than 12,000 students become excellent readers using a structured, easy-to-use curriculum. Our volunteers become so much more than reading partners. By sharing their knowledge and experience, tutors become mentors, friends, and positive role models in the life of a child.
Have fun. Change a life.
Tutoring in the Reading Partners program makes a powerful impact in a child's life. Working one-on-one with a student is a fun, effective way to change someone's life--maybe your own.

Mission Statement
Our mission is to help children become lifelong readers by empowering communities to provide individualized instruction with measurable results.
Description
Reading Partners is a national education nonprofit that partners with students, their families, schools, and communities to provide students with individualized literacy support and the foundational skills they need to read at grade level by fourth grade. We do this by training community volunteers to deliver one-on-one, literacy lessons, using our structured and easy to follow, evidence-based curriculum. Volunteer tutoring happens in-person via our Reading Partners Traditional program and virtually via our Reading Partners Connects program. Programming varies by region. We currently serve twelve regions, nationwide: Los Angeles, Silicon Valley, San Francisco Bay Area, Seattle, Denver, North Texas, Tulsa, Twin Cities, South Carolina, Washington DC, Baltimore, and New York.
