General SPCA volunteers must be at least 16 years old, but we do offer our jrSPCA program to kids in 6th-12th grades. jrSPCA members meet once per month and work together on seasonal projects to help raise money for the SPCA.
Animal handling is not permitted to anyone under the age of 16, so these members instead help the SPCA with fundraising projects such as hosting a lemonade/popcorn/cotton candy stand at special events, car washes, or wearing the shelter dog and cat costumes. They always do a great job and have lots of fun! There is an adult jrSPCA advisor present at all events, but parents are welcome to observe and may join in the fun if they are also registered volunteers with the SPCA.
To get started, please complete our online volunteer application and then register for and attend a volunteer orientation session. http://www.letlovelive.org/#!volunteer/cihc
