Our dog walking program is incorporated into our Phideaux University train-to-adopt program . Participants begin as Resident Assistants in which you socialize with the dogs. The next step is to receive additional training to become an Academic Advisor, which entails walking the shelter dogs. If you’d like to unleash your inner dog whisperer, you can attend a hands-on workshop and graduate to the level of Professor of Behavior. At this advanced level of the program, you will choose a dog (or more) to work with one-on-one for 20-30 minutes, 2-3 times per week to help them gain some basic "petiquette" skills and increase their chances of finding a permanent home. Partnering with another Professor is acceptable for those unable to commit to 2-3 visits per week. These training sessions can be done during the shelter's business hours, Monday through Saturday 11a-5p or limited times on Sunday.
