City Vision Internships is a Christian one-year, multi-year or summer internship program based on the AmeriCorps model. Interns serve at one of over 40 positions across the USA and Canada. In the past 10 years, we have placed over 500 full-time interns and 68,000 volunteers in hundreds of Christian ministries.

Elementary School Program Intern or Middle/High School Program Intern : The objective of this position is to serve LACF by assisting with the implementation of the STARS program , with a specific focus on program components and administrative data.

  • General Responsibilities:
    • STARS Data Collection: Collect STARS related data pertaining to students grades and pre/post assessments.
    • Coordinate STARS enrichment activities to ensure that activities are running appropriately and smoothly according to schedule.
    • Responsible for a maximum of 5-20 students when supervising during program hours to ensure safety of students under care.
    • Snack Management: works with STARS Program Manager and President of Parent Committee to plan menu, prepare and/or coordinate preparation of snacks by parents ensuring high quality nutrition per program standards and that there is a comprehensive schedule where all elementary parents have their specific days to bring snack.
    • Responsible for daily implementation of STARS Behavior Guidance Policies and Procedures.
    • Follow-up with parent phone calls on a daily basis regarding STARS student attendance and any behavior issues that may arise.
    • Assist with the set-up of STARS program as needed on a daily basis for the specific enrichment activities on each specific day.
    • Meet regularly with direct supervisor and attend program-related trainings and events.
    • Perform other reasonably related duties as necessary to support the STARS program.
    • Assist with volunteer recruitment and training.
    • Assist with administrative tasks in the administrative offices ? filing, organizing and sorting, Data-entry and processing tasks, Mail handling and logging.
    • Attend weekly staff meetings, monthly city-wide team meetings and Leadership Team meetings and training events.
    • Assist with fund development tasks: Prepare acknowledgement letters and other correspondence, maintain donor files, create database reports as needed, maintain guest lists, gather and prepare registration materials, prepare media materials for distribution and other duties as assigned by the Director of Development.
    • Distribute and collect mentoring applications from students.
    • Help mentor coaches schedule match meetings by communicating with students, mentors, and coaches.
    • Provide event support at mentoring events, such as Mentor Socials, trainings, and Mentor Meet-Ups.
    • Assist in surveying students about their satisfaction with the mentoring program.
    • Capture mentoring stories on video and in written articles.

For Interns without a Bachelors Degree: One Year Work Study Internship

  • Provides a work study internship with free tuition in City Vision College for a full year paid by hosting ministry.
  • Online courses providing accredited degrees in Nonprofit Management, Addiction Studies, and Urban Missions.
  • Housing is provided by hosting ministry (or a cash equivalent living stipend).
  • Any Pell grant or other federal financial aid paid as cash payment to student (up to $5,645).
  • Expectation is typically 29 hours of volunteer work with 16 hours of class work per week (45 hours total).

Requirements

  • At least 18 years old and have a high school diploma or equivalent (GED)
  • Must be a Christian
  • U.S. citizen, U.S. national or lawful permanent resident alien, or have a valid student or work visa
  • Able to make at least a one year commitment (may be extended by mutual agreement)
  • Able to financially live on just free room and board (and stipend if you opt for the One Year Paid Internship) and any outside income sources you have.
  • Able to relocate to a location of a ministry site (unless a site exists at your current location)
  • Should have good people skills, ability to work with children and youth, and have a desire to learn.
  • Should have familiarity with Microsoft Word, Excel and the internet.
