Over 1,500 young men and women leave the foster care system in Texas each year. Most leave without a permanent home, little education and often without even one reliable adult to guide them during this critical time.
Just a few hours of your time each month can be life changing for former foster youth. A volunteer THRU Project Advisor (mentor) helps youth navigate their resources, advocates for them when needed and, most important, lets them know they are not alone.

Mission Statement
THRU Project's mission is help youth overcome the challenges of growing up in the foster care system by providing guidance, support and advocacy in order to prepare them for life after foster care.
Description
THRU Project matches current and former foster youth, 16 and older, with a volunteer Advisor (mentor) to help guide and support them as they learn to live indpendently from foster care. Advisors meet with their youth at least once a month and text/call/message with them 2-3 times per month. Advisors help youth navigate their resources and advocate for them when needed but, most important, they let these young men and women know they are not alone duringt this critical time.
